The Bayou Salado Trading Post is more than just a roadside shop - it's a living piece of history. Housed in a historic structure that once stood as part of the original Hartsel Hotel complex, the shop serves as a gateway to Colorado’s rich geological heritage. For years, rockhounds, travelers, and treasure hunters have visited the historic South Park Valley, drawn by its unique minerals, fascinating local history, and custom silversmithing.

Over the years, owners Dave and Lark Harvey transformed the trading post into a beloved community landmark. While Dave can often be found at his bench crafting custom sterling silver jewelry or prepping mineral specimens, Lark has curated an outpost that champions local artists, native crafters, and weary travelers alike. Together, they have kept the historic trading post tradition alive, offering everything from rare blue agate to a warm cup of coffee and a scoop of ice cream.

Bayou Salado Trading Post is proud to support and celebrate the vibrant spirit of our local community. We partner with area vendors, artisans, and small businesses to showcase the unique talents, products, and traditions that make Hartsel and Park County, Colorado special. By supporting local events and entrepreneurs, we help strengthen connections and keep the heart of our community thriving!
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
